NEWS FROM MARS GLOBAL SURVEYOR
(Currently in Operation)

The primary goal of the Mars Surveyor Program is the search for water, because with water, comes the possibility for life. We know there is no life on Mars now, but was there once? We still don't have the answer, but we now have evidence that there may have been oceans on Mars. This image, released by Malin Space Science Systems/NASA, was taken by the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC), aboard the Mars Global Surveyor. The image shows an area approximately 25.1 x 31.3 km (15.6 x 19.5 miles) at the edge of an unnamed crater. It is believed that this image is evidence of such oceans.
